It’s like outlet mall shopping – for cars

Think 70% off is reserved for last year’s fashion? Not so. If you are willing to buy previously-owned -- you just might get a car at that discount. The key is to look for models with a high depreciation rate. As you know, new cars take a big hit in the first year or two of ownership. For myriad reasons, some take a higher initial hit than others. If one of these models happens to be the car you are coveting, count yourself LUCKY! Consumer Reports recently released their list of cars with the highest rates of depreciation. A few examples:

2006 Lincoln Town Car Executive Sedan
Depreciation: 66%
2007 Lincoln Town Car Executive Sedan
Depreciation: 62%
2006 Volvo S60 Base Sedan
Depreciation: 54%
2006 Toyota Sequoia Limited
Depreciation: 52%
